首張專輯《就是屌- Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not》首週銷量衝破36萬張，空降並蟬連英國金榜四週冠軍，北極潑猴一舉刷新英國排行榜首張專輯最佳銷售紀錄。他們不僅一躍成為「一鳴驚人」的最佳註解，並同時稱霸NME音樂大獎與06/07兩屆全英音樂獎， 2006年各大年終榜單更是少不了北極潑猴的身影。初生之犢之所以能夠躋身傳奇，除了出色的商業成績，尚有賴網路推波助瀾，早在首張專輯正式發表前，北極潑猴場場售罄的演唱會，都可見到慷慨激昂的大合唱。網路音樂交換平臺非但沒有減少買氣，反而締造史無前例的銷售成績，這個現象顛覆一般常見的思考邏輯，也打破了唱片工業對網路的成見與疑懼，也因為這樣的成績特別讓人期待他們的新作。
距離上張作品不過一年多的時間，北極潑猴很顯然是有備而來，他們獻上第二張專輯《Favourite Worst Nightmare》。新任貝斯手Nick O’Malley，是其它團員求學時代便認識的朋友，他們這次帶著絕佳的默契與全新樂隊Logo，挑戰去年所創下的輝煌紀錄與樂隊自我極限。這張專輯由他們熟識的兩位年輕製作人，James Ford以及Mike Crossey出手監製，他們不怕破錶全力加速，煽動力也經過再升級，除了Alex Turner讓人啼笑皆非的生活觀察始終如一，專輯曲風相較前作更加多元。開場作品“Brianstorm“有如不長眼的鹽水蜂炮；“D Is For Dangerous“專為演唱會量身訂制；“Fluorescent Adolescent“與“Do Me A Favour“為十分出色中板歌曲；“This House Is a Circus“是拿來挑戰搖滾樂迷腳步的疾速華爾滋；“Only Ones Who Know“展現潑猴們柔情動人的一面；結尾曲目“505“讓人耳目一新，將先前橫衝直撞的激情，全化成在心頭翻騰的澎湃。又一次，當所有人還在低頭檢查安全帶時，北極潑猴早已再度達陣得分。
